Tribun Pekanbaru: Kidnapped 4-Year-Old Found Thousands of Kilometers Away After 5-Day Search
The Disappearance and Immediate Response
On November 2, 2025, Bilkis Ramdani was playing in Pakui Park in Makassar while her parents exercised nearby. When she was reported missing around 10 a.m., her parents quickly alerted the Makassar Police, prompting an immediate response from the Crime Investigation Team.
CCTV footage revealed a woman leading Bilkis away along with two other children, which became a crucial lead for the police. The urgency of the situation was palpable, as the authorities recognized the need for swift action to locate the young child.
The Arrest and Unraveling of a Trafficking Network
On November 6, police arrested a 30-year-old woman named Sri Yuliana, also known as Ana, who confessed to kidnapping Bilkis and selling her through Facebook for IDR 3 million (approximately $200). Ana cited economic pressure as her motivation, initially believing that Bilkis would be adopted by a family in Jakarta.
However, further investigation revealed that Bilkis had been resold and moved to Jambi. The police's relentless pursuit led to the arrest of two accomplices, Mary Ana and Ade Frianto Syaputra, who were involved in the trafficking scheme. They had sold Bilkis to the Anak Dalam tribe community for IDR 80 million (around $5,300).
Successful Recovery and Ongoing Concerns
After an extensive search that spanned multiple provinces, Bilkis was found safe and was immediately taken to the Merangin Police for medical and psychological assistance. Senior Commissioner Arya Perdana confirmed that the child showed no signs of violence and was in good health, stating, 'Thank God, the child has been found; her health and psychology are also good.'
This case underscores the alarming issue of child trafficking in Indonesia, a problem that authorities are striving to combat. The successful recovery of Bilkis not only highlights the dedication of law enforcement but also raises awareness about the vulnerabilities that children face in society.
