TVR PARLEMEN: Bali International Hospital Welcomes International Specialists
Impact Assessment by Commission 6
The Indonesian House of Representatives' Commission 6 recently visited the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Sanur, Bali, to evaluate the Bali International Hospital project. The commission aims to ensure that this significant healthcare initiative benefits the local community by creating job opportunities and enhancing the overall quality of health services available.
Commission member Inengah Senantara highlighted that the SEZ's development should provide tangible benefits, including the absorption of local labor and the utilization of products from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). With around 90% of the workforce and all MSMEs involved in the hospital project sourced from Bali, the initiative is seen as a model for community-centered development.
Local Workforce and MSME Involvement
In a significant move towards local empowerment, Inengah Senantara noted that nearly all of the workforce employed by the Bali International Hospital is from the surrounding area. This commitment to local hiring not only fosters economic growth but also ensures that the benefits of the project are felt within the community.
Furthermore, the full engagement of Bali-based MSMEs in providing products and services for the hospital underscores the project's dedication to supporting local businesses. This strategy is expected to stimulate the local economy, providing a sustainable model for future developments in the region.
A Vision for Sustainable Development
Senantara expressed her hope that the investments from state-owned enterprises would lead to affordable healthcare services comparable to those offered in other countries. She emphasized the importance of integrating local wisdom into the development process, advocating for a balance between modern healthcare advancements and the preservation of cultural values.
The Bali International Hospital is poised to become a beacon of regional economic development, showcasing how healthcare initiatives can align with community welfare. By prioritizing local resources and labor, the project aims to create a sustainable model that can be replicated in other regions across Indonesia.
